Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Antique Rose Release Blog Hop

Hello crafty friends!
Welcome to the Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Antique Rose Release Blog Hop. If you arrived here from Lilith Eeckels’s blog you are on the right track!

This month’s Altenew Craft-A-Flower set features a gorgeous Antique Rose!

I die cut flowers from shades of red, leaves from shades of green using the CAF Antique Rose Layering die set first, and then layered all pieces together using fine tip glue pen just the way the guidebook instructs it.

For the background, I dry embossed onto kraft paper panel using the Mod Squares 3D embossing folder. To blend in with the antique roses, I tore some parts of the background panel.

For my second card, I die cut flowers & leaves from watercolour paper, layered them together, and then watercoloured them with Distress inks.

  1. As soon as I saw your name on the blog hop, I KNEW that I would love your project. You are amazing. I especially LOVE the soft colored, watercolored rose. I have never thought of die cutting watercolor paper, gluing it together first, and then coloring it. YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!

  2. Pop of teal… perfect! This past month has been the start of my obsession with floral cards… and you are definitely feeding my obsession! 🌸 🌺 For that I thank you. 😁😆

  4. Love the watercolored distress ink rose! I have other layered flower dies but never thought to assemble them first, and then paint. This reminds me of my 2 beautiful Joseph’s Coat roses that continually change with colors of peach, yellow, coral, and pink.

  7. The new CAF die set is beautiful! This is probably the most realistic flower in this series! And the inspiration cards look amazing! I really love the beautiful colors and the artsy splatters.

  8. Very beautiful! I love red roses, but I also l-o-v-e the color combination on your second rose. Beautiful cards, thank you so much for making and sharing.

  9. These are some of the most beautiful flowers ever! I absolutely LOVE your cards and am inspired to try and create something like this!

  10. Beautiful cards! Really like the second one as it gives that antique feel of this set of dies. Thanks for the inspiration.

  11. Love both your cards! I continue to be amazed at how the Mod squares embossing folder looks like at least two colors when it is used on a background. Makes a lovely setting for your red rose. I am particularly struck by your second card. The water colored petals and leaves are stunning. The whole effect is just brilliant. Thanks for sharing such beauty!

  12. Your cards are beautiful and unique! I love the color choices, the geometric background, the torn edge, everything. Great job!

  15. Wow!! What amazing cards!! I love the torn 3D background on the first card and the colour combinations on your second card is stunning. I love them! Thanks so much for the great inspiration! Stay safe! :)

  16. I’m waiting for that fab 3D folder as I type! Can’t wait – and OH my goodness, your roses are really stunning – love the idea of layering, then water coloring them! Gorgeous color choices, and love all the wonderful splatter!

  17. I love how you cut and layered all pieces before water coloring the roses…that’s kind of a different approach that I hadn’t thought of before. Both cards are so gorgeous! Great idea to use Kraft paper for the background of the first card
