SSS Handmade Holiday Release Blog Hop – Day 2

Hello crafty friends, TGIF!
Welcome to Day 2 of the Simon Says Stamp Handmade Holiday Release Blog Hop. I’m so happy to be a part of this warm and cozy blog hop! If you arrived here from super talented Emma Williams’s blog you are on the right track.

For my first card, I used the new Etched Delicate Frond die and Pine Bouquet embossing folder.

I applied the Pine Bouquet embossing folder to A2 sized watercolour paper panel first, and then ink blended the panel with some Distress Oxide inks: Fired Brick, Vintage Photo, Cracked Pistachio and Faded Jeans. I then made edge-to-edge shaker panel with lots of sparkling sequins & confetti.

I die cut the Etched Delicate Frond from thick white cardstock, then applied gold embossing powder to the end of each leaf. For the sentiment, I used the CZ Design Merry die set.

Here is a closer look:

I just could not resist another play with the gorgeous Etched Delicate Frond die. I die cut 3 fronds from thick white cardstock first. I then applied Distress inks to 2 fronds – one that I inked with Evergreen Bough, another that I inked with Bundled Sage. I stamped cardinal in the Winter Birds set on white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black, coloured it with Copic markers.

I dry embossed the panel with the Crystal Distortion embossing folder, mounted it on white card base using double-side tape, then added all elements as shown in the picture. I was so happy to see the result!!

  3. Hi, Yoonsun – I like both cards – they are beautiful – but that second one with the cardinal really took my breath away. I LOVE the combo of that embossing folder background with the bright striking red of the bird – WOW! TFS!!

  4. Amazing cards! Love the backgrounds! One is so grungy and yummy, the other one is so simple and elegant. The frond die looks awesome with both! :)

  5. Two beautiful cards! The first one is sparkly and bright. The bird card is elegant and clean. Thanks for sharing your creativity!

  6. I love what you did with the different but same leaves in the cardinal card. Everything wonderful of course but that really appeals to me as a nice touch.

  7. Beautiful cards. I love the colors you used on the first one, and embossing just the ends of the frond branches is brilliant. Thanks for the inspiration!

  8. Both are beautiful! The gold tips on leaves, really added wonderful touch to stand out on blended background. Adorable cardinal too with stacked leaves. Of course the embossing folders are great. So many great new products and my wish list is growing.
