Tonic Studios Garden Party Release Blog Hop Day 1

Hello crafty friends, TGIF!
I’m so excited and honoured to be a part of the Tonic Studios Garden Party Release Blog Hop! It is a very first monthly stamp set release of Tonic Studios and all their new sets are truly amazing – especially flowers!! If you arrived here from Bibi Cameron’s blog you are on the right track!

For my cards today, I am focusing on the Peony Bloom Stamp Set. It is my most favourite set among entire release products. :D
For my first card, I made no-line watercolour peony card with some Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens.

I stamped peonies and leaves from the Peony Bloom set on watercolour paper using light coloured dye ink, and then coloured them with Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens & water brush. I coloured a part of each petal with aqua flow pen first, and then fill the empty space using water brush. These watercolour pens are really fantastic!! The colours are so vibrant and they blend well with water. I love it so much!!
(Petals) Flamingo Pink & Apple Red / Wild Phlox & French Wine
(Leaves & bough) Sliced Kiwi, Aqua Splash, Indigo Batik, Caramel Pecan
Once the watercoloured images were dry, I fussy cut them out, and then adhered them on the card front using foam tape.
For the sentiment, I used the Botanical Burst Stamp Set – it’s also a new set and has many adorable flowers and sentiments.
Before I move to my second card, I highly recommend the Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer Pen. Before using it, I just thought it was a gold shimmer pen but I was wrong. This pen has clear + shiny gold shimmer colours – I mean not too much gold colour. It made my watercolour flowers more shiny and pretty. I love, love, love it so much!!

For my second card with the Peony Bloom set, I used the Novu Shimmer Powders.
I randomly stamped flowers & leaves on watercolour paper panel using Nuvo Black Shadow hybrid ink. Next, I applied clean water all over the stamped panel using spray bottle, and then I sprinkled some of the shimmer powders in Catherine Wheel, lilac waterfall, Green Parade, and Falling Leaves onto the wet stamped panel. Once I applied powders, I brushed them with a wet paint brush.
It looks quite messy but artsy, isn’t it? :D

  2. Yoonsun, your cards are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for such a beautiful introduction to Tonic Studio’s Aqua Flow pens! I never realized they existed. Your cards demonstrate the beauty of their colors beautifully.

  3. Oh my word, Yoonsun, your floral creations are so stunning. I really love the way you used a light ink on the first card and those watercolors are just so pretty. I love these. new stamps.

  4. The Peony stamp is one of my favorite of the new release. Your coloring of the Peony has me stunned at how beautiful it can be colored. You really made them bloom!!!! I haven’t tried the Nuvo pens yet but now I have a new gotta try!!

  5. Love both of your cards, Yoonsun! The first one is beautifully colored with the Nuvo Aqua color pens, but the second one using the powders really is an artsy, but gorgeous, card, too.

  6. Stunning cards. I love this new Garden Party release and I especially love the many floral stamps available. Your coloring is fantastic.

  7. I love these cards. I love the edging that borders the 2nd card, they look embedded and not cut out…am I right? Would love to know how you did that.

  8. Two gorgeous cards. I especially love the first, you’ve really captured the look and feel of the beautiful peonies.

  9. Both of your cards are simply stunning – love the beautiful coloring on the first one, and the fun, messy look on the second – just beautiful!

  10. I love the ‘messy’ flowers on the second card. I adore shimmer powders but I usually let them sit where they land. Using a brush to control the pigment is genius. Why didn’t I think of that?TFS

  11. The flowers in the first card are gorgeous – so
much depth to the shading. The second is
more free-form and fun. Both cards are
    wonderful. thanks for sharing

  13. BEAUTIFUL cards!
I ADORE your peonies, especially in the first card, the colours are SO VIBRANT! I haven’t tried Nuvo Aqua Flow Pens or the MAGICAL Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer Pen either, feeling INSPIRED and adding them to my list to buy and try :)
    Thank you for sharing!
