MFT Summer School Session 2 – Complementary

Hello crafty friends, welcome back to MFT Summer School!
In MFT summer school session 2, we are dealing with color theory. The topic of the day is ‘Complementary‘.
Print
Complementary colours are any two colours which are directly opposite each other, such as red & green, orange & blue, purple & yellow. These opposing colours create maximum contrast and maximum stability.

For my first card, I take purple & yellow colour palettes.

To create the card, 1)I stamped Roses All Over Background on the white card stock using Pure Plum dye ink. 2)I die cut butterflies from vellum paper using Flutter of Butterflies Solid Die-namics, from Daffodil card stock using Flutter of Butterflies Lace Die-namics. 3)I die cut ‘Wish’ from Pure Plum card stock using Stars & Wishes Die-namics. 4)I mounted all elements as shown to the Daffodil card stock, added some clear sequins.

For my second card, I take blue & orange colour palettes.

Blue and orange colour combination wasn’t familiar with me before but, I realised these two colours can make a really cool card!!

To create the card, 1)I stamped Tiny Stars Background on the white card stock using Coral Crush hybrid ink, die cut the left edge using Blueprints 25 Die-namics. 2)I die cut ‘happy’ from Orange Zest card stock, ‘birthday’ from After Midnight card stock using Arrow Greetings Die-namics. I also die cut the balloons from Orange Zest, After Midnight card stocks using Birthday Balloons Die-namics. 3)To finish it off, I mounted all elements as shown to the stamped panel.

Here is what I came up with:
YoonsunHur-20150619-MFT-SummerSchool01MFT June release Flutter of Butterflies Die-namics is so beautiful and butterfly itself would be good enough for making elegant card.

To create the card, 1)I stamped Roses All Over Background on the Cherry Crisp cardstock using Cranberry Cocktail dye ink first and then die cut butterfly using Flutter of Butterflies Solid Die-namics, covered it with Zig Wink of Stella Glitter Brush Clear. 2)I stamped rose background on the white cardstock with Wild Cherry dye ink and then die cut it with Cross-Stitch Circle STAX Die-namics. I die cut larger circle frame from the vellum paper. 3)For the sentiment, I used it from Count the Stars Stamp set. 4)To finish it off, I mounted them as shown to the Primitive White cardstock, added some clear sequins, washi tape, and star wood veneer.

NewReleaseCountdown_Day1
YoonsunHur-MFT-JuneRelease-Day1-01Today is a happy panda day! Such an adorable panda makes me smile!

To create the card, I used Happy Pandas Stamp Set. 1)For my own background, I inked on the watercolour panel with Field Day dye ink using blending tool, added some water droplets. I then die cut leaves from the same green inked paper using Wild Greenery Die-namics, positioned the die cuts on the inked panel, adhered them in place using fine tip glue pen. I trimmed it with Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics. 2)For the focal point, I stamped the panda on the white cardstock with Black Licorice hybrid ink, coloured it with Copic markers. 3)I stamped the bamboo trees with Chocolate Brown, Kraft, Jellybean Green dye inks and coloured the balloon with Wild Cherry dye ink, covered with Wink of Stella shimmer.

I want to share with you one more feminine card before I go :D
YoonsunHur-MFT-JuneRelease-Day1-03For this card, I used Roses All Over Background, Written in Watercolor, Abstract Cover-Up, and beautiful Butterflies die-namics.

For my rose background 1)I stamped the roses on the watercolour panel with embossing ink, white heat embossed. 2)I blended it with Red HotWild Cherry, Paver Red dye inks using blending tool. 3)I die cut it with Abstract Cover-Up. I then die cut Abstract Cover-Up from the white cardstock once again. 4)I inlaid all the rose stamped pieces into the open areas of the white outlined panel.
